00:30:53 Andrea Holovach: Hurricane Florence couldn't keep me away! Hello from North Carolina! 00:31:48 Billhighway Marketing: Oh wow, thanks for joining us Andrea! 00:31:55 Jen Sanford: Hello from Indianapolis! 00:31:56 Martha Huckaby: Greetings all! 00:31:57 Colleen McMahon: Hello from Chicago! 00:32:04 Leisl Moriarty: Sunny greetings from western MA! 00:32:12 Jennifer Polachek: Hello from Pennsylvania :) 00:32:56 Luci Blodgett: Hello from the National Contract Management Association in Ashburn, Virginia! 00:33:28 Billhighway Marketing: We're sorry, Rita...have you tried calling in instead? 00:34:31 Belinda Judson: I attended and was in Patrick's group. 00:34:53 Gwen Simmons: Hello from Cleveland! 00:34:57 Billhighway Marketing: Sorry Rita...I read your name, but meant to talk to Mary :) 00:34:59 Andrea Holovach: Lindsay's haircut throws me off every time! 00:35:31 Billhighway Marketing: Are things any better now? 00:35:48 Lindsay Currie: Andrea, me too still. 00:35:54 Billhighway Marketing: I can hear you fine 00:36:16 Andrea Holovach: Sounds like you need a new mic Peggie. 00:36:30 ANNE PAUL: Your audio isn't as good as the others- I think it's the mic 00:38:45 Billhighway Marketing: Yep! We'll be sending to all :) 00:41:14 Gwen Simmons: Is this the same as an AMS? 00:42:01 Peggy Hoffman: No @Gwen its more! and integrates with ams 00:42:32 Peggy Hoffman: No @Gwen its more! and integrates with ams 00:42:35 Gwen Simmons: You've answered my question 00:45:06 Peggy Hoffman: TOPS - its only in idea form 00:45:26 Peggy Hoffman: Yes kristin 00:47:44 Billhighway Marketing: 5 minute mark :) 00:48:36 Billhighway Marketing: Yep, Kari! 00:48:42 Billhighway Marketing: Yes, Kari! 00:51:34 Gwen Simmons: Not exactly an "unchapter" but we did redesign our affiliate structure based on capacity thresholds. 00:52:46 Colleen McMahon: We redesigned our model (with Peggy's help). We are still challenged with folks that were married to the old model. But we are making progress (slow) progress in growing local networks. 00:52:54 carolyn guyton-ringbloom: Our bylaws requires 1 chapter/state, but we are trying to merge smaller states together to consolidate resources.s 00:53:41 Gwen Simmons: some of our affiliates have developed member based and directed leadership councils and interest groups 00:54:32 Gwen Simmons: Colleen - we are experiencing the same thing 00:55:58 John Bellotti: Compliance is rediculous but making sure their activites are in line with the organization is important 00:56:18 John Bellotti: Trying to offer a way to do events by committee of general membership rather than by chapter 00:57:10 Peggy Hoffman: @becky yes! 00:57:45 Luci Blodgett: I'm saying "no, but I want one", but we do have chapter rosters that are limited by permissions, and we use Higher Logic as a private community space for them. 00:58:12 Peggy Hoffman: @kimberelee tell us more 00:58:40 Kylie Malloy: What software are you currently using to house chapter leader information? 01:01:15 Martha Huckaby: We tried to use a private state leadership community in Higher Logic but we could not get our affiliates to use it. 01:02:28 Colleen McMahon: Martha - we had the same problem. We ditched HL and are building something on our new website with our new AMS. For now we use a facebook group because that's where our members go and what they are comfortable using. 01:02:29 Luci Blodgett: ^^ that IS the problem, Martha! They're not talking. But it seems to be helping us get our reminders out TO them 01:02:55 Gwen Simmons: We use Hello/Higher Logic and are beginning to see some traction by leaders. We've had to encourage them to post in the community rather than come to us for all of the answers. We're just 11 months in and have seen an uptick the past 2 months 01:03:22 Leisl Moriarty: Our leaders are added to the "State Leaders Community" of our Higher Logic online community. We've made a big deal about them being added to it at our yearly face-to-face meeting with them. I'm finding that they respond well to one another but really don't respond when we ask general questions of them. 01:03:50 Martha Huckaby: Thanks great ideas and advice. 01:04:01 Leisl Moriarty: I think I'm going to have to plant some of the leaders to post the questions that I want to get discussion going. 01:04:10 Gwen Simmons: We have seed questions we use to drive discussion and several champions who continue to move the dialogue forward 01:04:13 Diana Mertz: Our chapter leader community (also on HL) had historically been used to just PUSH out info versus them using it organically for their own needs. We tried to make it about what we wanted them to know and I think that goes against community best practices. We want it to be member driven, so I want to revisit our chapter community so they can make it fit THEIR needs versus our needs :) 01:04:45 Andrea Holovach: I used HL at my last group. It took some time, but we did get them discussing 01:04:55 Andrea Holovach: We had to plant questions for a while... 01:05:21 John Bellotti: Love the facebook idea and brought it to our leadership 10 months ago but I can't get leadership to go in that direction. 01:05:50 Andrea Holovach: That's it Lindsay! We actually posted their questions from our in person meeting directly into the HL community so non-attendees could see! 01:06:14 Colleen McMahon: We do in person tech training too. So important. We found members couldn't do simple things like logging into the site and navigating to a specific section. 01:07:00 Andrea Holovach: We need this session at CESSE!!! 01:07:01 Lindsay Currie: The unboarding took us 5x longer than we had anticipated. Incorporating time to use is key in planning. 01:07:28 Colleen McMahon: When we used Socious/HL - we also posted as our members (leaders) in hope that more would respond. It worked for a while. 01:07:45 Leisl Moriarty: How are your tech trainings delivered? Do you have them do breakouts based on position, based on the software they need to learn, etc? 01:08:39 Lindsay Currie: I think someone mentioned plants, we used some key leaders as ambassadors of the portal. It had the biggest impact on usage. 01:09:12 Peggy Hoffman: Talk to us! Happy to see how we make that happen! 01:09:23 Diana Mertz: Could we do an idea share around tools that your chapters love? I'd love our chapter leaders to share their favorite tools with each other but I worry that they likely aren't using the most efficient tools. 01:10:00 Leisl Moriarty: A lof of ours don't use best practices so we have the same issue, Diana. 01:10:01 Diana Mertz: Tech tools specifically. 01:10:17 Lindsay Currie: Small groups, 3-4, mix of new and longer term volunteers, with a staff member to walk them through. THen there is an element that they all have to complete certain activities in the community, so we can be there if there is any sticking points. 01:10:19 Peggy Hoffman: Try having your volunteers ask for it? 01:10:23 Colleen McMahon: Lately we have found our States aren't motivated by $. We now try to do more recognition of both the State and the leaders involved. 01:10:45 Leisl Moriarty: What are you doing for recognition instead, Colleen? I'm working on an incentive program right now so I'm curious. 01:11:26 Colleen McMahon: Highlighting in Newsletter, on social media, potentilly in our magazine, at our National meetings. 01:11:28 Andrea Holovach: I think we need to offer more through these communities than just discussion. It has to be where they come to do everything...get their data, get forms they need, etc. 01:11:30 Peggy Hoffman: Yes that was part of the idea 01:12:08 Colleen McMahon: Andrea - yes! They want one stop shopping for everything they need in one spot. 01:12:27 Diana Mertz: agree andrea! We have a microsite for their community but people don't go there to use the resources. Probably because the content on the site needs a complete refresh and be about what they need versus what we think they need! 01:17:03 Andrea Holovach: When you talk about recognition...we need to consider the persona of the leader. With our student leaders, we dug into the persona and realized that annual recognition and monetary rewards were not their love language. They wanted to be told they were awesome and were the best. A lot of university pride... 01:17:27 Cynthia Simpson: We did a really good communications webinar to reinforce the key talking points related to our brand. The information was greatly appreciated by our chapter leaders as they are the ones who are talking about the association at the local level. 01:18:29 Billhighway Marketing: 10 minute mark for final takeaways... 01:19:01 Andrea Holovach: I love this incubator idea! It is so frustrating when you bring leaders together for a "roundtable" and they just complain. This concept of getting them to create their own destiny! Don't tell us what is wrong...tell us what would be oh so right 01:19:29 Lindsay Currie: I think someone mentioned plants, we used some key leaders as ambassadors of the portal. It had the biggest impact on usage. 01:20:22 Lindsay Currie: For our onsite training we had small groups, 3-4, mix of new and longer term volunteers, with a staff member to walk them through. THen there is an element that they all have to complete certain activities in the community, so we can be there if there is any sticking points. 01:20:24 Gwen Simmons: Andrea - our online community is exactly what you describe. All things - central portal for documents, resources, calendars, upcoming events, 01:21:25 Gwen Simmons: I love Zoom! We are using gotomeetings and it is very limited 01:22:16 Colleen McMahon: We use Fuze (similar to Zoom) and it helped make our 2019 budget process so much easier. They could watch us complete the budget and see everything real time. 01:24:33 Gwen Simmons: That's a great idea! 01:24:48 Colleen McMahon: That's huge - use their terminology. 01:24:56 Billhighway Marketing: 5 mintues left 01:25:07 Patrick Algyer: I'm sorry I have to jump to another meeting. Thanks for the great info! Love all this info! 01:25:23 Charlotte Muylaert: Bye Patrick! Thanks for joining! 01:25:39 Charlotte Muylaert: Bye Patrick! Thanks for joining! 01:26:09 Andrea Holovach: YES YES YES Peggie 01:26:15 Colleen McMahon: Yes 01:26:17 Sarah Sears: Will definitely look into Zoom 01:26:18 Leisl Moriarty: We're working on it now. Yep! 01:26:19 Diana Mertz: YES! 01:26:20 Martha Huckaby: Absolutely! 01:26:23 Kylie Malloy: Yes! 01:26:44 Amy Richards: Yes 01:26:46 John Bellotti: Yes. 01:26:51 Rachel Grimes: Yes! 01:27:04 Andrea Holovach: And we all know that our leaders will listen to anyone on video that isn't US! Using each other as "experts"... 01:27:15 Leisl Moriarty: ^Truth. 01:27:20 Lindsay Currie: totally andrea!!! 01:27:21 Martha Huckaby: You are so right, Andrea! 01:27:30 Diana Mertz: Yes! love love that 01:27:42 Andrea Holovach: Hi Diana! 01:27:48 Sarah Sears: I would love to continue this conversation 01:27:52 Amy Richards: Yes definitely 01:27:52 Gwen Simmons: Yes - keep it going 01:27:53 Leisl Moriarty: I think the technology training would be helpful for me. 01:27:55 Diana Mertz: Hi Andrea!!! 01:27:56 Colleen McMahon: Yes 01:27:57 John Bellotti: Yes 01:28:03 Andrea Holovach: Yes! Let's do this more!! 01:28:04 Luci Blodgett: yes 01:28:13 Belinda Judson: YES!! 01:28:14 Leisl Moriarty: Also the recognition examples other than $$$ 01:28:31 Martha Huckaby: Yes, please! 01:28:57 Diana Mertz: love the new council name! 01:29:24 Andrea Holovach: Would love to do a persona session 01:30:24 Diana Mertz: Yes CEX! Can't wait. 01:30:26 Andrea Holovach: So excited for CEX! Anyone up for a meet up the night before? 01:31:14 Cynthia Simpson: Congrats on CEX being sold out and this was a great webinar - thanks everyone! 01:31:19 Rachel Grimes: Would love a CEX in Colorado!.....after this winter 01:31:24 Leisl Moriarty: I'm game for a meetup the night before 01:32:33 Gwen Simmons: Thanks! Great meeting. 01:32:45 Martha Huckaby: Thank you for this great webinar! 01:32:49 Andrea Holovach: Please send the info for Thursday meet up for CEX
